Getting to the Mountains

Our wedding events will take place in both Breckenridge and the Vail Valley, with the ceremony and reception Piney River Ranch.

The closest major airports are:

Denver International Airport (DEN): about 2 hours to Breckenridge and 2.5 hours to Vail by car, depending on traffic. This is the best option for most guests, with frequent direct flights from across the U.S.

Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE): about 30 minutes from Vail and 1.5 hours from Breckenridge. A smaller mountain airport, but incredibly convenient if you can find flights.

Rental cars are the most flexible option for exploring, though shared shuttles and private car services are available from both airports.

Getting Around

Breckenridge and Vail are both walkable resort towns. Keep in mind Ubers can be somewhat limited and unreliable so car is typically the easiest way to get around. Piney River Ranch however, is tucked into the mountains and accessible only by an unpaved road. Shuttles will be provided for guests on the wedding day to make the journey easy and safe.

Altitude & Weather Notes

Both Breckenridge and Vail sit at high altitude—around 8,000–9,000 feet above sea level. Piney River Ranch is even higher, at roughly 9,350 feet. To mitigate the effects of altitude we recommend:

-Arrive a day early if possible to give yourself time to acclimate

-Drink plenty of water (altitude can dehydrate you quickly).

-Limit alcohol your first day if possible.

-Oxygen cans are readily available at local markets and hotels.

July in the mountains is beautiful, with daytime highs in the mid-70s and cool evenings around the 40s. Afternoon rain showers are common, but they usually pass quickly. We recommend bringing layers, a light jacket or wrap for evenings, and comfortable shoes for mountain terrain.
